Following the PRC pact with the Solomon Islands, Kevin Byrne (CP, 27/04) can defend his Liberal mates and brand PM Sogorave as corrupt, the fact is, if China builds a military base there, we will have to strengthen our military accordingly.

Harold, Aeroglen

The Katter plan to burn food as fuel (CP, 27/04) will raise food prices for the world’s poorest people but won’t lower local fuel prices.

Juss Sayen, Cairns

Please TV stations can we have some different episodes of the police shows RBT, Highway Patrol and the like, and while you’re at it is there any chance of some new movies? Some have been on that many times I can lip sync them.

Alan, Aeroglen

Unless it’s used in a specially modified engine, ethanol is an inefficient fuel (CP, 27/04). We have hundreds of years of domestic oil supply in the Arckaringa Basin under Coober Pedy. We could have the cheapest fuel on earth if governments didn’t cling to the ridiculous idea that they can save the world from a non-existent global warming problem.

Truckie, Smithfield

Why do people slam candidates for pledging cash or saying what they’re going to do? It’s kinda what you do in a campaign, isn’t it?

Jess, Brinsmead

If there really was a gender pay gap in the Queensland public service, what does that say about Labor which has run that government for most of the last 30-odd years?

James, Mooroobool

The Greens candidate’s letter about buying Taylors Point started off sounding like they were going to put their own money up to do so, but no, the last paragraph revealed their intention to use other people’s money. Typical.

Graeme, Trinity Beach

Promises Promises. Sorry Elida, I’ve been around too long. As far as most of us smarter people realise, all your promises do is give the Cairns Post something to fill their pages with.

Realistic, Westcourt

I don’t blame Trump for walking out of such a heavily edited stupid interview.

George, Earlville

Mega millions for Mayor Manning’s plan to pump Mulgrave River dry. Mega millions of taxpayers’ subsidies for useless, foreign owned, unreliable wind and solar energy, now Katter’s mega millions for Mulgrave mill energy.

Whilst mega billions of litres of water flow out to the ocean, that could be damned for drinking water and hydro electricity, so as reliably, safely power industry. Why are we forced to vote for useless, big spender politicians again?
