Bang for buck in Bayview

- BRONWYN FARR

THE cheapest house in Cairns – it has obvious termite damage – attracted more than 22 groups to an open house on the weekend, with multiple offers made.

Listed with offers of more than $299,000 sought, the three-bedroom home at 13 Yara St, Bayview Heights, is the only house in Cairns for sale for less than $350,000.

It is in a desirable suburb, on a corner block of 812sq m with subdivision potential.

RE/MAX agent Gisele George said the property was now under contract.

It last changed hands for $163,000 in 1994.

“I had multiple offers and 25 inquiries – it is a total original renovator with obvious termite damage, in a great location,” she said.

“The termites were live, but have been treated.”

The home has timber floors, casement windows, undercover double carparking, room for a granny flat, an enclosed front patio, a beautiful lawn and a steel-framed garden shed.

It is close to schools, sporting facilities and social clubs.
