JESSICA LOGAN, YEAR 10, ST ANDREW’S CATHOLIC COLLEGE

-

RECENTLY a small group of students from St Andrew’s Catholic College attended a Careers in Health Breakfast held at the Pullman Hotel on the Cairns Esplanade.

This event was funded by James Cook University and had guest speakers including Dr Ernest Jennings who is a senior lecturer in Anatomy, and Miss Cassandra Aguis, a Speech Pathologist at Cairns Hospital.

Other speakers included Mr Jassi Singh (Exercise Physiologist), Ms Rebecca Jessop (Intensive Care Registered Nurse) and Ms Kiralee Gross (Pharmacist).

They talked about a variety of topics such as physiotherapy, surgery, dentistry, pharmacy, speech pathology, nursing and midwifery, while also adding jokes and fascinating facts into their introductions and answers.

St Andrew’s students viewed the breakfast as a hit, some even cementing their future goals for their career pathway post-school.

This event helped many students understand what their life could look like and provided helpful information.
