DOCKERS FACING MORE COVID PROBLEMS

-

FREMANTLE’S Covid situation has worsened, with two more first-choice players set to join Rory Lobb in isolation and miss Friday night’s game.

The West Australian understands Blake Acres and Travis Colyer are the latest players to be sidelined.

The absence of Acres looms as a particularly cruel blow. The winger is in career-best form after starring in Saturday’s win over Geelong, picking up nine of a possible 10 votes in the AFL Coaches Association champion player of the year award.

It came as Fremantle scaled up their Covid precautions at training on Monday morning, with groups of around five players spending time on the training track running a light recovery session and Bailey Banfield taking part in a oneon-one session with coach Justin Longmuir.

Other players spent time in a makeshift outdoor gym but were required to wear masks.

The latest Covid setbacks come off the back of previous outbreaks that saw head coach Justin Longmuir miss multiple games as well as assistant coaches Josh Carr and Matthew Boyd.

Defenders Heath Chapman and Hayden Young have also missed the past two games after being forced into isolation.

The Dockers face lowly North Melbourne on Friday.
