BRUCE HIGHWAY SHUT FOR SIX HOURS AFTER CRASH

A MOTORIST was taken to hospital in a critical condition after a serious traffic crash involving a truck and three vehicles on the Bruce Highway

at Goolboo, south of Innisfail at 12.13pm on Tuesday.

Cassowary Coast crime prevention unit Senior Constable Jane Moran confirmed the accident involved a Bdouble truck and two other vehicles.

“At this stage I understand that there is only one person critical, everybody else sustained no injuries,” she said.

The Bruce Highway was closed in both directions with diversions in place.

Northbound traffic was diverted at the Silkwood-Kurrimine Beach intersecti­on, with motorists heading to Innisfail or Cairns having to travel via Innisfail Japoon Rd.

A police spokesman said the Bruce Highway reopened in both directions at 6.30pm on Tuesday evening.
