Tully farm has appeal for buyers
A PROMINENT Far North banana farm has hit the market as local and national buyers have struggled to peel their eyes away from the established site.
Colliers International is looking for a new owner to utilise the fully operational and established piece of infrastructure located adjacent to the Tully River.
Colliers marketing agent, Stacey Quaid, said the 139.12Ha property was situated in an area which enjoyed high humidity and rainfall given its position near the Tully River between Japoon and Koombooloomba National Parks.
“It’s just well located, with good soil, a lot of it is a part of the river flat with access to the water,” he said.
“(The farm) has an irrigation licence too.”
Currently trading under Tully River Farming, Mr Quaid said the previous owners had managed the farm for a number of years.
“They’ve made substantial improvements,” he said.
Mr Quaid said the farm was fully operational with 103.2Ha of crop planted within the last five years and fitted with equipment.
“The offering also includes multiple machinery sheds and some on-site accommodations,” he said.
Colliers described the offering to include equipment such as bagging machines, tractors, backhoe, forklift, trencher, trailers, spray tanks and farm vehicles.
“(It) includes a large packing shed, cold-rooms, machinery shed as well as carports and chemical sheds,” he said.
“It’s a well laid out farm and well managed … someone could step in tomorrow and take over.”
Mr Quaid said it was an ideal time to buy for both farmers and investors.
“Across the agribusiness market we’ve seen a lot of interest with the growth in commodity prices,” he said.
With the offering on the market for just over two weeks, Mr Quaid said the property had offers made both locally and nationally.
“The inquiry has been a combination of established growers and some agribusiness investment groups,” he said.
Mr Quaid said the site was anticipated to sell quickly with expectations of offers about $3m.
Available for formal offers only, keen buyers can contact Cairns Colliers on (07) 4031 3443.
