Argent’s hot round

CAIRNS golfer Ross Argent outdid himself in the Cairns Open, shooting 71 in the opening round on the way to claiming the overall men’s championship. Golfers at Cairns Golf Club bore witness to Argent’s efforts – he hit a weekend-best 71 in the first round then held on to finish at +2. across the two rounds. Tom Whittle was second just one stroke back. Amber Barker was crowned overall women’s champion, finishing two strokes clear of teenager Angel Pizzichemi.
