IT’S SHEER LOO-NACY

- Terena Hopkins, Goldsborough Valley

INTERNATIONAL Year of Disabled Persons with a theme of “full participation and equality” was back in 1981. I’m with Chris Calcino (CP 3/5) shame on all local government authorities, 41 years later, who can’t be bothered to ensure young Emma Deede’s access rights are respected.

The Chris Calcino (CP, 4/05) analysis of car thefts and fixation by some out-ofcontrol youth allowed for a pragmatic response and reality. A perspective in dealing with the social, family and monetary cost. A change from the exploitation and dramatisation on this subject by vested interests.

Travis, – the UAP will introduce a 5 per cent export licence on iron ore, not 15 per cent, and those other countries have no choice but to pay while we can buy things we need from elsewhere

(or better yet, make those things here). Also, no other party has even mentioned the $1 trillion ALP and LNP debt, let alone how to pay it off.

Sean McGinn (CP, 4/5) if you really believe carbon dioxide causes global warming and sea level rise, why do you live in a beach suburb?

Cathy, Edge Hill

If the ALP really wanted to end the youth crime spree it created it could try returning to the laws we used to have that actually worked. For those who have forgotten, they involved protecting the community over and above protecting the criminal. I mean, that is what we pay them to do, right? Steve, Redlynch

Graham Richardson has the weird idea that the last two years of abuse by governments didn’t serve to wake people up and that we’ll all dutifully vote for the ALP/LNP duopoly again. No, Richo. We’re not that stupid. They blew our trust just like they blew our budget and we ain’t rewarding that sort of behaviour.

“Wet spell to ease for now” (CP, 4/5).

The BOM has become so bad at forecasting rain we now literally need to check the radar before doing anything where we need dry weather. Allan, Kanimbla

Watching A Current Affair last night was amusing, my husband and I at the age of 21 built a one bedroom house in Edge Hill in 1983, within two years the interest rates were 17 per cent, we paid the mortgage, then the bills and then ate. We learnt to cook and ate sparingly. Our wages were very low but we managed. I can’t believe they put a nurse on when he makes $49 an hour. Lesley, Brinsmead

Sometimes ScoMo gets it right. Well, half right at least. In November last year he said petrol prices, interest rates and cost of living would all go up. And they have, except it’s happened under his watch, not Labor’s.

Re; Oliver, CP 3/5. Bob Katter looks after the people of Kennedy. UAP didn’t look after the nickel refinery workers. Big difference.
