WHAT A PERFORMANCE
WE were privileged to see Celtic Illusions at CPAC on Tuesday evening. What a performance by a truly professional troupe.
Clearly the highlight was the amazing Irish dancing – all perfectly synchronised and with a frenetic toe-tapping pace. It was reminiscent of the great Michael Flatley’s acclaimed Riverdance. There was an occasional touch of gymnastics, with somersaults, cartwheels and mid-air twirls.
Costumes were terrific and colourful, enhanced by the bursts of strobe lighting and smoke effects.
We had sweet songs – though no traditional Irish ballads – as well, and of course the brilliant “magic” illusions where a performer would appear in a cage or disappear behind a flapping sheet of cloth. At one stage, a performer wiped his brow with a handkerchief which suddenly left his hand and “flew” across the stage to disappear into the theatre wing.
A pot of gold, even without any leprechauns. A top night, enjoyed by a large audience. Hopefully, they will return with more Celtic Illusions soon.
