Keith (CP, 5/05), most people with any sort of education realise that we have been hit with the worst financial scenario in the last three years. Worse than anything Labor has ever had to deal with. First the bushfires then Covid, which is 30 times worse than the GFC then the floods, now the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If people out there are still wondering why we are having financial setbacks I really don’t think they have been paying attention.

Re: New film called ”OZ a Tragedy”, starring the Qld Premier as Dorothy, PM as ”Tinman”, Opposition leader as the ”Cowardly Lion”, Leichhardt MP as ”Scarecrow”. Some described his performance as having no substance whatsoever and a special appearance from the treasurer as “Toto”. Don’t worry if you miss it as it will be back in four years with no script changes and possibly a few cast changes.

About 30 years ago the global warming saga ramped up and we were predicted to get stronger cyclones more often. The insurance industry joyously jacked up its premiums in the cyclone belt. Yet we’ve had fewer cyclones and they’ve been weak. This season we had none. Thanks for the expensive insurance for nothing, climate science.

What! A report from JCU (CP, 5/05) states that as the planet warms existing flood zones are likely to expand. Lounge-chair professors have been denying global warming for years.

Everyone knows politicians lie. Everyone knows public servants can be wrong. Everyone knows governments are made up of politicians and public servants. So why do so many people expect truth and accuracy from governments?

The “servo surge” says people are betting big with their own money that the electric car fad never takes off.

Great, another set off traffic lights heading north to Palm Cove and then to Port Douglas. Well, best you plan on taking a cut lunch to get to Ellis Beach. George, Edge Hill
