NAPLAN PUT TO THE TEST

-

ASHLEY EKERT, ETHAN MCMAHON, MILLA PAGANO, TAYLOR PAVEY, CHRISTOPHER JUNG, OLIVIA KREIDER, YEAR 3, OUR LADY HELP OF CHRISTIANS

YEAR 3 OLHOC students will be sitting NAPLAN tests on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and next Monday.

Here are some of our thoughts as we prepare for our first experience of NAPLAN:

I feel a little nervous because I am being timed and that can make me a little stressed because I have to write about stuff that I might not have ideas about.

For example, this morning I had to write about a door, so I wrote about a person who ignores her mother’s warning about the basement, and she thinks one of her friends pranked her, but it wasn’t her friend.

In some of the NAPLAN tests Year 3 need to use their chromebooks but in Writing, Year 3 has to use a pencil and writing booklet.

Ashley Ekert

I feel nervous about NAPLAN because sometimes I don’t get finished. I feel good about the maths test because Mrs White’s group has a strategy to help us remember our times tables. Milla Pagano

I feel great about NAPLAN because my teacher has taught me everything. I have had practice tests for Reading and I was good at it. I also did Maths and there were a lot of hard questions like 6 x 20005 = ? Spelling is hard and easy. Typing on the laptop is hard because sometimes you don’t know where the letters are, so it is good that we can use pencil and paper for the Writing test.

Ethan McMahon

I feel scared about NAPLAN because I am not very good at Maths.

The desks are separated and that makes me confused. You get timed and that makes me stressed because time limits are scary for me.

Taylor Pavey

I am nervous about NAPLAN because you have to be timed and it might be 1 minute left and you haven’t finished.

Some of the NAPLAN questions are hard, especially in Maths.

Our desks have been split apart. You have to have all your things off your desk except for your chromebook, otherwise

you might get tempted to play with them.

Olivia Kreider

I feel happy about NAPLAN because it is fun and it’s good for you. It makes you learn. It’s better than playing games and other stuff and it is good learning. We have been learning about pluses and matching things. I am quite confused about using my chromebook because it has so many keys on the keyboard.

It is hard to type but my teacher showed me how to place my hands so I can get ready for any words.

In our class we learnt to write about dogs, kangaroos and fairy tales. I have to remember to put space marks and commas.

To get ready for NAPLAN the desks are all split so people cannot see other people’s work. Year 3 and Year 5 will do it on 4 days, one test each day. I am not nervous because I have practised this enough times, and I’m not scared anymore. Christopher Jung
