BRING BACK VALUES
AFTER reading the various articles (Neighbour’s theft caught on camera and Elderly woman sickened by theft CP, 10/05) involving theft of money or financial cards by overtly friendly neighbours or an altruistic woman getting a glass of water for an apparent woman in need, it starkly reveals the values that Australians hold operative in their community.
Then, there is the young beautiful musician who “reveals industry pressure” (CP, 10/05) to provide sexual favours for gig opportunities.
We all may scoff at the baldface corrupt morality and actions of President Putin but look at what is happening in our back and front yards. I notice it is the more conservative of our politicians who constantly beat the drum for harsher prison penalties for our alienated and anti-social youth, but it is the overwhelming promotion of individualistic materialistic values that is provided to needy adults and driven youth to mimic.
I have already condemned PM Scott Morrison and his party for being out-of-touch and promoting crass and simplistic economic values and formulas.
What we need are better community values so the needy and alienated respect the lives of others and share in their operation and promotion.
Economics is failing us in deeply human ways.
