PALM COVE DOG LOVERS, GET SET TO TAKE A BOW-WOW

- SARAH CARROLL

AFTER taking a three-year break, Palm Cove residents are getting ready to show off their puppies once again in a community event of dog lover’s dreams.

Palm Cove’s Annual Dog Show is set to kick off on Saturday at the Palm Cove Tavern, with proceeds being donated to YAPS (Young Animal Protection Society) Cairns.

Show creator and co-ordinator Rhonda Henderson said although the event had been on a three-year break, she was still blown away by the effort dog lovers put in to their entries.

“Everyone comes down to have a great day and support YAPS because they’re a really good charity,” she said.

“YAPS isn’t government funded but they do a really, really good job with rehoming dogs.”

Previously an organiser of horse shows, Ms Henderson dived into dog shows with a “how hard can it be” attitude.

“The tavern have been amazing and they’ll be doing a BBQ breakfast and coffee on the day.”

Registration begins at 7.30am, with events running from 8.30am.
