Narda to maintain run of placings

- HARRY MURTOUGH

NARDA Shar has never failed to finish among the placings to date in 2022, and there are plans to keep the continue the run at Mareeba on Saturday.

The six-year-old gelding will be one of many Sharliee Hoffman-trained horses taking to the turf in the five-race card.

In 2022, Narda Shar has won three races in a row at Atherton and Townsville twice respectively, before finishing third in Townsville in midApril.

“He’s been up here at the farm for a couple of weeks, I’ve been freshening him up,” Tolga trainer Hoffman said.

On Saturday Narda Shar will line up in the Graham Hotel Plate over 1123m.

“He mostly races 1400m, and he’ll be carrying a little weight on him, but just as much as anyone else out there so I think he’ll fare quite well.”

The deluge that has battered Northern Queensland had led to the canning of a number of race meets including at Cairns and Rockhampton.

Hoffman said after speaking with Mareeba Turf Club president and trainer Alex Malliff, conditions on the track appear to be satisfactory ahead of this weekend.
