LABOR ADDS $1.5M PROJECT

- CHRIS CALCINO

LABOR has tacked another $1.5m project to Far North election hit lists with hints there could be more latestage pledges to come.

Senator Murray Watt visited Cairns solar power wholesaler AC Solar Warehouse on Monday to unveil the ALP’s Far North regional plan.

It laid out every promise so far for the seats of Leichhardt, Kennedy, Herbert and Dawson – including one newcomer.

Sen Watt announced an Albanese government would spend $1.5m to improve the water quality of Saltwater Creek in the city’s north, with weed control, revegetation and other measures.

“There’s four or five days more to go … I can tell you that there will be other shadow ministers in Leichhardt, in Cairns over the course of this week,” he said. “But even the commitments we have already made far exceed the commitments that Warren Entsch and the LNP have made …

“If you look back at the commitments they’ve made previously, they don’t end up delivering them anyway.”
