GIFTS FOR OUR MUMS

ON Friday morning on May 6, the P and F set up a Mother’s Day stall near the basketball court with a bunch of Mother’s Day gifts, so everyone could get their mum a present to say thank you for caring about their kids and looking after their kids.

There were coffee mugs, water bottles, bath bombs, photo frames, candles, chocolate, earrings and jewellery boxes.

Each gift cost $5. You were only allowed to choose one gift. If you wanted to, you could buy one more gift at lunch time. It was pretty easy finding a gift that you knew your mum would like.

“If you didn’t have any money to buy a gift you were allowed to get a chocolate. I got my mum a travel mug and my brother got her incense sticks, and she loved them so much that she treated us like a prince,” Taylor Pavey said.

Some people just made a card or made a present instead of buying the presents from the Mother’s Day stall.

In the afternoon we did a special prayer assembly for Mother’s Day.

Some year 6 leaders read three Bible verses and said some prayers.

Prep G performed a song about every child makes mistakes.

They did a lot of actions. It was a really funny song and everyone laughed at it.

Then we had to put our hands up to do a blessing for all the mums for everything that they do for us.

When the mothers came into the assembly hall they were given a raffle ticket. At the end of the assembly the P and F drew the raffle and handed out three prizes to three mothers.

Then the preps and year 5s handed out a purple or yellow flower called a chrysanthemum to all of the mothers.
