Hughes, Healy at function

-

A HIGHLY anticipated Bulls Masters function will take on a more sombre note after the death of former Australia allrounder Andrew Symonds.

Bulls Masters representatives are on the way to Cairns for a series of coaching clinics and school visits, an umpire’s coaching session, and a function featuring former Test stars Merv Hughes and Ian Healy, along with ironman Guy Leech.

The function, which will be held at the Benson Hotel on Thursday, was already set to feature plenty of stories about the late, great Shane Warne, who died from a heart attack earlier this year aged just 52.

Hughes and Healy spent plenty of time with Warne on and off the field and undoubtedly have plenty of stories to share about one of the greatest cricketers to play for Australia.

They will also undoubtedly pay tribute to Symonds, who was aged just 46.

Funds raised from the function will go to the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation and Cairns District Junior Cricket Association.
