BEACHES TO DAINTREE

A week of light winds and flat seas ensured masses of boats headed to the reef chasing a mixed bag. Fishing was red hot in most locations especially to the north. Coral trout have been on fire on the mid-depth bommies along with a great mixed bag of reef fish. Large mouth nannygai made up a big proportion of most fishers’ catches in the deep rubble patches and isolated rocks, along with small mouth nannygai, spangled

Daintree River  emperor, painted sweet-lip and cobia. Areas like Trinity Opening and Grafton Passage fished well in the 50m range. Unfortunat­ely fish loss due to sharks made some areas unfishable.
