Wins aside, Cairns is proud of Taipans

- Alison Paterson, Reporter

Fresh from showing how hard and smart the Taipans have worked to win their last two games away, it is fair to say that all of Cairns is behind them as they play the Perth Wildcats tonight. To compete in the NBL requires not only an elite level of physical fitness, it also involves a strong and positive mental focus to achieve victory rather than have defeat thrust upon you.

Head coach Adam Forde has shown he is 100 per cent behind his team, whether they are playing on the court, in coaching or administrative roles, or are part of the Snakes’ ever-expanding loyal fan base.

Winning two for two, the Taipans have made a great start to the 2022–23 season.

It’s fair to say that they were very much the underdog when they headed south to play the JackJumpers in Tasmania earlier this month.

But the Taipans astounded their opposition and gave themselves a tremendous boost when they crushed the JackJumpers in a decisive win.

And in their round two game in Melbourne on Saturday against SEM Phoenix, the Taipans’ win showed they have the courage, skills, focus and espritde-corps to make the magic happen.

Now tonight at the Cairns Convention Centre, the Taipans will be facing their former coach Mike Kelly and the Perth Wildcats who are currently leading the NBL league table.

After finishing ninth last season, the Taipans look like they have found their groove.

And no matter the result against Perth, we want the Taipans to know the whole city is right behind you. Like Forde, we have your back and no matter the score, we are determined to support you to rise and become the best team you can be.
