Giving the gift of love to mothers

-

When the parents took their kids to school on Friday, May 12, there was breakfast for the mums to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The mums could get a chocolate, blueberry or strawberry muffin and tea, orange juice or a coffee.

Some parents got pictures with their children near the library celebration tree which was decorated in Mother’s Day stuff like paper flowers and the word “mum”.

When the bell rang, the kids went to class to mark the roll while the parents went to the hall to wait for the prayer assembly to start.

Year five students led the liturgy about Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, the sound for the songs wasn’t working. Ms Garrett helped us to sing one of the songs on our own.

The whole school joined in. At the end of the assembly, some Year 5 children handed out cards with a picture of Mary to all the mothers that were there.

Year 2 invited their mothers to visit their classrooms. Each Year 2 class did a craft activity. 2P did colouring, 2G made a frog life cycle and 2C made a flower from paper circles.

During the morning, each class had a turn visiting the Mothers’ Day stall organised by the P & F so children could buy a present for their mum.

At each stall there were dads volunteering to help out with selling the gifts.

The gifts cost up to $5. There was soap, coffee cups, mints and a cup that had a spoon that you could put food in.

There were also photo frames and if you did not bring money you could have a free gift for your mum. Some students also chose to take a free card.
