WAGS WOW AT DALLY M:

- By KATE DODD kate.dodd@thechronicle.com.au

STAR National Rugby League player Ben Barba may have been named as player of the year at the 2012 Dally M awards, but all eyes were on the wives and girlfriends who showed up in their red carpet best.

Personally, I think there were more misses than hits.

I absolutely loved Gold Coast Titans rugby league player Nate Myles’ partner Tessa James’ floor-length, backless lace dress.

Darren Lockyer’s wife Loren oozed elegance in her simple green dress while Manly Sea Eagles player Daly Cherry-Evans’ girlfriend Vessa Rockliff looked super cute in her little black dress and to-die-for heels.

I felt Todd Carney’s partner Lauren Eagle’s wacky outfit of a ruffled skirt and see-through mesh top was a little strange for a red carpet appearance, and Erin Pomerantz nearly got it right – and she would have if she’d stuck to one colour instead of three.

Makayla Woods looked pretty uncomfortable and like she was going to fall out of her black sparkly number.

There was nothing wrong with Player of the Year Ben Barba’s partner Ainslie Currie’s outfit – I just thought she looked more like she was going to work than the red carpet.

The yearly Dally M awards celebrate the finest the NRL has to offer.

This year’s ceremony was held on Tuesday night at the Town Hall in Sydney.
