Global eyes on Range bypass job

-

A SOURCE close to the international company eyeing the $1.6 billion Toowoomba Range bypass said the project was a huge talking point among infrastructure construction companies across the globe.

The source, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke exclusively to The Chronicle yesterday about the inner-workings surrounding the project.

“It is fair to say the discussions will advance even further if there is a favourable outcome on September 7,” he said.

“This particular project has attracted a lot of interest with companies internationally, not just us. “It is on a lot of people’s radar.” He said international companies were particularly interested in projects of this size and scale.

“There is no issue about our expertise in being able to build it,” he said.

“It is an interesting and challenging project which is of great interest to us.

“The Toowoomba Range bypass project is one we know we can successfully build.

“We know we can build it and we will definitely be putting our case forward.”

He said Australia had become a desirable place to do business in the eyes of international companies.

“There is a great deal of interest across the world with regards to public–private partnerships.

“Australia is seen internationally as a great place to do business.

“However, a lot of companies are also waiting to see what the outcome of the Federal Election is before committing to invest here.”
