Drivers on the road driving safely for all road users are usually not a drama. The problems evolve when cars try to pass cyclists (riding legally one or two abreast) on a two-lane rural road marked with no passing lanes and corners and crests. Sometimes vehicles do not slow down from often excessive speed and do not pass safely. Interesting perspective hey Driver, Twmba.

Is it just me or there many more people taking much longer to fix sections of roads at great cost and the sections of road not lasting as long as roads used to – maybe engineers etc and project managers need to go back to basics with how to build a road.

Re John Dolan and the big picture. Well said. Clive Berghofer is a hardworking self made man. Clive is generous to a fault. The school P & C I was involved in when my kids were small thanked him many a time. Many people would not have their homes if it was not for Clive’s affordable land. Seem there is a bit of tall poppy syndrome about.

The trouble with Parole Boards is that they are made up of Do Gooders and not of people with brains and common sense that know how to use those talents

GH, Tmba was it a joke when my young daughter was running in Newtown “off-leash park” and was attacked by a dog? Now we are driven insane by new big barking dog nearby and council tell me must have 2 other people 4 it 2 go 2 court! Dogs have more rights than people in this place!

Watching Today Tonight when farmers are burning their lively hood yep up in smoke pears; apple trees and turning tomatoes back into the ground; now who was looking after our farmers, not the government.

To Concerned Ratepayer, can you pls substantiate your claims of already having “heaps” of theatres and people not being able to get out the them? The new theatre at the Empire is absolutely needed and shows great foresight.

Councils keep talking about excess land fill; after the elections we will have tonnes of pamphlets to bury or millions of dollars of wasted promises.

Tucka, C/Nest

I read the TRC is over $200 million in debt. This is plus interest. How many years of council revenue is this? Every year there is a pay rise for all, with no noticeable productivity increase. A drive around the city will see lots of wasted man hours and silly unnecessary projects and now it seems all on borrowed money. It seems once elected councillors quickly loose common sense. The financial advisers should be sacked and unnecessary projects stopped or scaled back ASAP. Wake up TRC with hundreds of millions in debt; this city could easily become bankrupt; it’s time to get the snouts out of the trough.

I hope all Australian judges watch closely how American law works when you shoot and kill someone; especially an Australian.

Why is it that govts can slash jobs in hospitals, schools and community services like child safety, but when it comes to businesses like car manufacturing, tax payer dollars are freely handed over in the name of saving jobs?

VM, MCk

Penalty rates are what encourages many people to work out of business hours and weekends. Giving up time with family is compensated by extra pay. Why is there talk of getting rid of this? Seems unfair to rob people of this.
