Carroll in tune for Valley

NATIONAL SERIES: Penultimat­e round for top-class riders

FORMER champion Toowoomba motocross rider Troy Carroll returns to Echo Valley on Sunday as teams and riders looks to improve their standings in this year’s national series.

The 12-time Australian champion and now successful team manager returns to his former home track with his Kawasaki outfit to contest the penultimat­e round nine of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals.

Carroll’s team includes Jay Marmont and Adam Monea who sit inside the top 10 of this year’s Pro Open category on 333 and 323 points respective­ly.

Marmont clocked in with a sixth-place finish in the series’ eighth round at Swan Hill two weeks ago.

Monea was forced to retire from each moto due to mechanical issues.

Series leader is Suzuki rider Matt Moss on 511 points and 11 clear of second-placed Todd Waters (KTM).

Billy Mackenzie holds third spot on 461 points.

That trio heads the list of leading national riders competing in the city this weekend. Racing starts at 9am. Spectators are reminded there is no parking on the grounds.

Plans to run a shuttle bus service to the venue from Kearneys Spring park have also been cancelled. Round Nine Echo Valley Sunday from 9am Pro Open, Pro Lites, under 19

and Two Stroke Cup

Bar and food facilities operate during the day which also features trade stalls and running race commentary.
