Good-quality bullocks sell 8c dearer

BURNETT Livestock and Realty’s meatworks and store sale on August 15 saw a yarding of 965 head.

Bullocks again sold to a dearer market with some very good quality bullocks yarded.

Bullocks over 600kg topped at 168.2c/kg to average eight cents dearer.

Bullocks 500kg to 600kg were of much better quality than the previous sale which showed on average 27c/kg dearer.

Mooru Grazing, Takilberan sold Simmental cross No 0 bullocks from 164.2c to 168.2c/kg or $1100 to $1196 a head.

H Darlington and Sons, Binjour sold Brahman-cross full-mouth bullocks for 162.2c/kg or $1119 a head.

Cows were of mixed quality, topping at 125c/kg and mostly firm to slightly dearer throughout.

Brahman cows on account of Elsebach Grazing topped at 140.2c/kg or $735 a head.

Trade heifers were short in numbers and averaging firm, while heavy bulls topped at 160.2c/kg to average one cent dearer.

LK and SA Mittelheus­er, Gin Gin, sold four-tooth trade heifers for 145c/kg or $769 a head.

Steers 400kg to 500kg were in short supply but were mostly good quality and averaged 16 cents dearer.

Steers 300kg to 400kg didn’t reach the highs of last sale but still averaged three cents dearer.

BJ and SI Hollier, Childers, sold Droughtmas­ter milk and two-tooth steers for 152.2c/kg or $728, while lighter Charbray cross milk-tooth steers on account of the Holliers sold for 155.2c/kg or $589 a head.

Goldelk Pty Ltd, Booyal, sold Droughtmas­ter and Angus cross mostly milk-tooth steers to sell from 150.2c to 152.2c/kg or $601 to $713 a head.

Weaner steers sold firm for the better quality steers over 200kg while lesser quality and light condition steers sold to a much tougher market at 16 cents cheaper.

John Booth, Monduran, sold Charolais-cross weaner steers for 167.2c/kg or $423 a head.

Agnesvale Pastoral sold Santa-cross weaner steers to average 157.2c/kg or $380 a head.

LT and PM Turner, Mt Perry, sold a line of Droughtmas­ter-cross weaner steers from 150.2c to 161.2c/kg or $324 to $445 a head.

Feeder heifers over 300kg were in short supply while there was some good heifers yarded between 300kg and 320kg and these averaged three cents dearer.

John Booth, Monduran, sold Charolais-cross milk-tooth heifers for 142.2c/kg or $439 a head.

NF and JA Grumley, Childers sold Brangus-cross milk-tooth heifers for 144.2c/kg or $494 a head.

Weaner heifers in slaughter condition were 12 cents dearer on average while light-condition weaner heifers were much harder to sell.

With less and less background­ers buying cattle, this class averaged four cents cheaper.

GL Dingle, Mt Perry sold Brangus cross weaner heifers for 138.2c/kg or $347 a head.
