Heavy heifers return 155c/kg at prime sale

A TOTAL of 961 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Prime Sale last Thursday.

Steers over 550kg sold to 170c/kg and averaged 158c/kg, while steers in the 400-550kg earned to 161c/kg and averaged 148c/kg.

I and E Graham, Kidston, Roma, sold Droughtmas­ter-cross steers to 170c/kg for 581kg to return $989 a head.

The consignmen­t averaged 170c/kg for 573kg to make $974 a head.

B and D Sutton, Tallawalla, Roma, sold Brahman-cross steers to 169c/kg for 630kg to return $1067 a head.

The consignmen­t averaged 168c/kg for 610kg to make $1025 a head.

Anne Loughnan, Bowan, Amby, sold Charolais-cross steers to 163c/kg for 580kg to return $946 a head.

The consignmen­t averaged 151c/kg for 673kg to make $1017 a head. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 155c/kg for 563kg to make $873 a head.

Heifers over 450kg sold to 155c/kg and averaged 133c/kg, while heifers in the 350-450kg sold to 130c/kg and averaged 113c/kg.

Glengraco Grazing Co, Glenray, Yuleba, sold Hereford-cross heifers to 142c/kg for 455kg to return $647 a head.

The consignmen­t averaged 138c/kg for 480kg to make $661 a head.

Cows over 500kg peaked at 133c/kg and averaged 121c/kg, while cows in the 400-500kg class topped at 126c/kg and averaged 92c/kg. Cows 300-400kg sold to 110c/kg and averaged 92c/kg.

Palmtree Grazing Co, Palmtree, Taroom, sold Charolais-cross cows to 133c/kg for 635kg to return $843 a head to average 128c/kg for 563kg to make $722 a head.

R and J Underwood, Everleigh, Hughenden, sold Droughtmas­ter cows to 130c/kg for 579kg to return $754 a head to average 129c/kg for 544kg to make $703 a head.
