Maximise crop value: Sell with Blue Ribbon

-

BLUE Ribbon is an Australianowned family company that specialises in pulse exporting and marketing.

Created by Stephen Donnelly, Blue Ribbon has become one of Australia’s premium mung bean exporters.

Behind the success of Blue Ribbon is a dynamic group of people who pride themselves on delivering a service that is both flexible and reliable.

Stephen Donnelly, the managing director, is supported by James Hunt, export manager. Together they serve international customers while always striving to establish new markets.

They spend many months of the year travelling abroad to retain and cultivate close relationships with the buyers of Australian pulses.

In recent years, Blue Ribbon created a grower services network.

This gives growers the opportunity to market their mung beans and other pulses directly to Blue Ribbon.

Clare Muirhead looks after the grower services team.

Clare has many years of experience in the grain industry and works very closely with the export team to ensure timely, correct market information and prices are being communicated to growers.

Blue Ribbon deals with growers in all growing regions of Australia and works with an established network of grain processors and marketers to make sure that growers not only have access to the Blue Ribbon suite of marketing products but also ensuring growers are able to deliver their products to reputable processors.

Blue Ribbon’s goal is to help take some of the risk out of marketing mung beans and to be as transparent as possible through the whole process.

Blue Ribbon has recently invested in rural cropping areas.

The purchase of a processing plant at Wondai will allow growers to deliver their product locally, which helps maximise the profit when selling mung beans.

The plant at Wondai is managed by Wayne Holznagel.

Wayne has many years of experience in processing.

Blue Ribbon also in the last couple of years has built a processing plant at Brandon in the Burdekin district of northern Queensland.

This plant was built to process rice but has also allowed growers from central Queensland to northern Queensland the opportunity to deliver mung beans, which once again can mean great freight savings to growers.

Overseas, mung bean demand is once again looking promising, but with other countries potentially planting more mung beans, our export marketers are continuing to be diligent about retaining Australia’s market share and building new relationships to create more marketing opportunities.

Blue Ribbon has new crop hectare mung bean contracts available. These contracts can be useful marketing tools for growers who like to manage some price risk without committing to a firm tonnage. There is no minimum or maximum tonnage deliverable on these contracts.

Growers commit to a price and a planting hectare. To discuss options, please call Blue Ribbon.
