Blooms against cancer

supporting a good cause

- Laura Hunt laura.hunt@thechronicle.com.au

THOUSANDS of blooming daffodils will adorn Toowoomba workplaces and homes today after yet another successful Daffodil Day.

Yesterday marked 27 years of the national fundraising event.

Volunteers manned 13 sites in and around Toowoomba, selling fresh flowers and merchandise.

They helped make up the 300 sites nationally that sold 780,000 fresh daffodils.

Cancer Council Queensland fundraising co-ordinator Susan Hickey said the support by residents had once again shown how generous the city was. “It went off with a bang,” she said. “The support has been unreal.” Donations can still be made at www.daffodilday.com.au or by calling 1300 65 65 85.
