Dave tribute

-

WHO can forget the famous Irish comedian Dave Allen, who ran a comedy show perched on a bar stool while sipping whiskey (which was actually ginger ale) starting in the 1960’s and running for forty years?

Dave had a dry sense of humour and was a ground-breaker at the time for the way he could make jokes about religion and sex and get away with it.

As he once famously said: “I’m an Atheist... thank God.” He was a very funny man who objected to his strict Catholic upbringing. The Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Church came to despise him. They could not see the humour in his sketches.

His TV show influenced me a lot during my upbringing. Sadly Dave died in 2005 but will always be remembered by those who loved watching him.
