Handout heaven
I, LIKE many others, am sick and tired of forking out funds to help working parents get compensated for having kids.
Many cry poor, yet take their kids to Disneyland for a holiday while the Australian taxpayer is paying for their basic necessities.
When these parents get a bonus (ie payouts, etc), they blow it straight away, and then put their hand out, once again.
Why? Because they can! Mortgage rates have never been so low, and this should compensate for their finances, instead of handing them more taxpayer money that only encourages them to continue spending, rather than saving. I raised three children while working full time, when interest rates reached 18%.
We did not go on holidays, or to restaurants, and we did not expect the government to compensate us for having children. Yes, it was different then - harder in fact. Our children were our responsibility, not that of the taxpayer.
It will never be the country it could have been, or rather should have been. Its time to turn things around and make people take responsibility for their own decisions.
It is obvious it is a political strategy, but in doing this, it caters to a selfish generation of parents who have to have a new home, a four wheel drive, restaurants and holidays - and who have such spoiled children, they cannot cram any more toys into their bedrooms.
No wonder the infrastructure is suffering in our country with all this welfare and immigration.
Hand-outs are out of control. Australia can no longer afford these extravagances and ignore basic infrastructure, like roads, rail, health, dams etc.
It will never be the country it could have been, or rather should have been. Its time to turn things around and make people take responsibility for their own decisions and families.
