Army to Showcase Aviation Careers to South East Queensland School Students
To promote ADF Aviation careers to the students, the Army Aviation Training Centre (AAvnTC), Oakey and Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) are hosting ‘Fly Army Aviation Careers Day’ in Queens Park on Tuesday 27th August. The careers day will showcase the variety of exciting and rewarding aviation careers available in the Army Aviation Corps. Senior Military Recruiting Officer, DFR Toowoomba, Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Mark Lowndes said the career day is designed to expose Senior School Students and their Career Councillors to the variety of aviation careers in the Army. “With the support of the AAvnTC the students will get an in-depth exposure to what’s on offer. AAvnTC’s aim is the instruction of Pilot, Loadmaster, and Ground crewmen courses, as well as the training of Aircraft Technicians for employment within Army aviation. This is a rare opportunity to see a large portion of the Army’s aviation careers options on show and to understand the training, avenues of entry and recruitment process.” Army helicopters including the ARH Tiger, MRH-90, Blackhawk and Kiowa; along with maintenance and logistic assets, will be on display together with Officers and Soldiers of AAvnTC and DFR to talk to students about their roles, careers and jobs available. WO2 Lowndes said while other areas of civilian aviation employment might be slow, the Australian Defence Force is actively recruiting “We have a number of positions to fill in Army aviation and Navy and Air Force over the next 6 to 12 months. Roles such as Pilots, Engineer’s, Avionic and Aircraft Technicians, and Armament Fitters. The roles are not just open to men. In fact every position within Army Aviation is open to women. They make a significant contribution to Army aviation capability and we want more female applicants for the roles we are recruiting for.” Fly Army Aviation Careers Days will be held in Queens Park, Tuesday 27th August from 9.00am – 4.00pm. Members of the general public interested in Aviation careers in the ADF are welcome.
