Time to think

-

WE NEED thinkers and not politicians to get to the next stage of development where everybody can benefit. This implies the restructuring of not only the economy but also of government and government spending. It means local government’s response to the unique demands of its area – both in terms of industrial/commercial infrastructure and social needs. It means doing away with obsolete structures and approaches – such for example military spending.

Given that conventional wars are no longer plausible; and that cyber attacks on critical industrial infrastructure is the 21st century's likely approach; why not consider disbanding standing armies and diverting funds to other constructive practical ends.

The greatest security that can be obtained within a country, lies with a contented people – fully employed and assured of a good future. Such an achievement cannot take place through the present structured economy and ways of running government; much less through politicians bent on ideology based on past modes of development. Vision, insight, co-operative undertaking can only make it happen.

People should demand this to take place through the media and by selecting a duly constituted assembly of capable minds to look into these matters. We are at a critical point in history where a fresh approach is required. It has been done in the past. It can be done again. The present appointed representatives are incapable of doing this. Why vote for them?
