1. New exhibition at art gallery

IMPRINT is the new exhibition at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery. The exhibition will be officially opened tomorrow at 2pm by Sandy Pottinger. The exhibition will run until February 2. The gallery, located at 531 Ruthven St, is open today from 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

2. Students’ work up for sale

CHECK out the work of students and tutors attending the McGregor Summer School at the McGregor Markets tomorrow. Jewellery, paintings, prints, woodwork and more will be on sale. Cash only.

DETAILS The markets will be held in the McGregor College Dining Hall at the University of Southern Queensland from 10am to 3pm.

3. Get creative at arts workshop

CATHERINE Parker’s Summer Mini Arts Program is a three-day painting and mixed media workshop to be held this weekend. The workshop incorporat­es acrylic painting, mixed media and ink collages for participan­ts to create a body of work which tells “their personal story”. The workshop will be held from today at TheGRID until Monday and is suitable for all artists, first timers and art educators.

4. Photograph­ic display set to end

THERE’S more to see at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery than just its new exhibition Imprint – The Toowoomba Takatsuki Photograph­ic Exchange exhibition finishes up tomorrow. This exhibition was created as part of Toowoomba’s Sister City programs with Takatsukiu in Japan, between the two countries photograph­ic societies.

DETAILS The exchange provides both cities with an opportunit­y to share their images. The gallery is open today from 10am to 4pm and tomorrow from 1pm to 4pm.

5. Summer Tunes entertainm­ent

THE Toowoomba Regional Council’s Summer Tunes 2014 week two will have heaps of bands to keep you entertaine­d tomorrow. The line-up for this weekend includes the Alison Bryant Quartet, High Altitude Harmony, The Damian Black Band, Toowoomba Municipal Band, the Jim Miller Big Band, Andrew Kucks and Paul Edwards. Bands will play at Queens Park from 10am to noon and at Picnic Point, Laurel Bank Park and Newtown Park from noon to 3pm.

6. Woolshed hosts old time dance

GET your dancing shoes on tonight and head out to the Jondaryan Woolshed for the Old Time Dance. The dance starts at 8pm tonight at the woolshed, located at 264 Evanslea Rd, Jondaryan. Entry is $10 for adults and concession­s and $5 for children.

7. Markets support Global Care

ENJOY a great morning out at the Global Care Markets today. The markets have been set up to help fund support for the local community when it is in need – many families suddenly find themselves facing difficult challenges and struggles. Global Care is willing to offer a hand during those times. The markets will be held at the Citilife Church car park and auditorium at 513 Hume St, Middle Ridge, today from 8am to 1pm.

8. Museum tour at Cobb & Co

COBB & Co Museum always has something interestin­g to have a look at. It’s open daily at 27 Lindsay St, Toowoomba, from 10am to 4pm. Thirty minute guided tours are conducted at 10.30am daily, free with admission costs.

9. See top BMX riders in action

TOOWOOMBA BMX Club will play host to more than 500 of the region’s best riders today for the opening round of the Southern Zone Shootout Series. Some spectacula­r BMX racing will be on show as many riders hit the track for their first event of the year.
