Turn your world upside down

Toowoomba Show patrons get their chance for the ride of a lifetime

IT IMPRESSED the Top Gear Festival crew, and now any Toowoomba resident wanting to see the world from a different angle can do just that.

Holding the unofficial world record for the steepest four-wheel-drive stunt, the Team D-Max Iron Summit takes riders on a thrill ride.

And anyone daring enough can do that, for free, at the Heritage Bank Toowoomba Royal Show next week.

Team D-Max spokesman Josh Webster said the riders drive 4.5m up a hydraulic ramp at 45 degrees on what he described as a giant seesaw.

“We give people a chance to see the world from a different angle,” he said.

“We hold the unofficial world record for the steepest climb.

“The official record is 43 degrees but we did a bit of testing and pushed it a bit further.”

About 750 people jumped at the chance to test the climb at the recent Top Gear Festival in Sydney, and Mr Webster said those numbers were expected again at the show.

The Toyo Tyres sponsored exhibit will run during the day before the Black’s Trucks Isuzu Ute precision driving team show their skills in the main arena at night.

“It’s always a pretty popular attraction, I think, mostly for the curiosity factor,” Mr Webster said.

“It shows what an ordinary car can really do with no tricks or add-ons.”
