Business booms at Northpoint

-

SINCE the doors opened on Toowoomba’s newest shopping precinct, the Northpoint Shopping Centre, business has looked good.

In his opening speech property developer Ian Knox, who built the centre, said the dream had begun with his purchase of a house on Ruthven St, now the centre’s main entry.

This led Mr Knox to envision building the best neighbourhood convenience centre in Toowoomba, with the best tenants and thus the Northpoint Shopping Centre began to take shape.

The new centre boasts easy access from Ruthven St as well as alternative entrances from Parrot, Jones and North streets and comes equipped with a school children’s crossing.

With a range of tenants from the heavyweights such as Coles, Aldi and BWS right through to small business operators such as Phat Burgers, Northpoint Meats and others, the centre offers a diverse mix of retail and service outlets which promise to meet customer needs.

After a lengthy approvals process and negotiations with Toowoomba Regional Council, Mr Knox could not hide his elation at the grand opening.

“We are immensely proud to have a fabulous mix and quality of tenants, with more exciting developments to come to make Northpoint a unique retail offering,” he said.

“Communities thrive on the services and facilities shopping centres such as Northpoint provide and we look forward to taking our position as a pivotal part of the community in North Toowoomba.”

Owner of Southerden’s Florists Lyn Curcuroto has opened her second Toowoomba store in the new centre and believes it fills a service niche in the Toowoomba market.

“We know this is going to be a great centre; this whole part of town is really under-serviced,” Ms Curcuroto said.

“We’re going to do seven days here, and I really think from that three o’clock to six o’clock run it will be busy.”

While many businesses have opened their doors in the new centre there are further service providers set to enter.

Among them is Sullivan and Nicoladies Pathology, which will complement the Northpoint Medical Centre already operating at the shopping centre.

The medical centre currently boasts six doctors, and is looking to increase that number to ten.

A dental surgery is also forecast to open in June and possible openings of an audiologist and podiatry practise are also on the horizon.

The medical precinct consists of an allied health area of 270sq m, a further 460sq m for the GP/medical clinic and Priceline Pharmacy using 350sq m.
