Opportunity ripe for north-side businesses
SINCE officially opening its doors this month there has been a buzz about the Northpoint Shopping Centre — and not just from those living on the north side of town.
While many locals rejoiced that they would finally have a local service centre within an easy drive, or even stroll, the benefits of jobs, development opportunities and rental space to lease have also created a stir in the Toowoomba business community.
German supermarket chain Aldi was one of the first shops to open its doors in the new centre, with diehard Aldi fans lining up on the centre’s opening day to catch a slice of the action.
Also on the line-up is mother and son team Gloria and Scott Arthur who are running the centre’s The Coffee Club.
The pair formerly owned a roadhouse cafe in Jondaryan for more than 20 years before opening the new store at the Northpoint Shopping Centre.
Mr Arthur said they had wanted to open their own The Coffee Club for a few years now and they were both looking forward to the challenge.
“They've got great structures in place to support their franchisees,” Mr Arthur said.
“I'd really like to open another store within the next 12 months and then I don't know if it's possible or not, but I would love to help The Coffee Club expand overseas and open up The Coffee Club over there," he said.
The centre’s property developer Ian Knox said his aim had been to build a fantastic neighbourhood convenience centre and fill it with the best tenants.
