1. Historic Homes Tour

VISIT some of the city’s historic homes on the Toowoomba Garden City Zonta Club’s Historic Homes Tour tomorrow.

Usually closed to public viewing the Masonic Lodge will be one of the grand buildings to open its doors for the tour that raises money for charities.

DETAILS There are still tickets available by phoning the Empire Theatre box office on 1300 655 299. Parking and coach pickup is at the Glennie School, Herries St entrance on the chapel lawn at 8.30am for a 9am start.

2. Country Music Rush in Oakey

ENJOY a weekend of country music at the Oakey Cultural Centre.

Garden City Country Music Club presents its Country Music Rush, an all-age, country music competitio­n open to the general public.

A special feature of this year’s event is the 20th anniversar­y concert tonight featuring Michelle Schonberge­r, Mick Lindsay, Lance Coassin, Gary McDonald, Lorrae Charles, Amanda Faulkner, Daniel York, Sista Burley and Alice Benfer.

The event will run from 8.30am today until late tonight and 8.30am until about 3.30pm tomorrow.

DETAILS The cost of admission is $10 per day for adults, $4 per day for children under 18, $8 per day for pensioners and children under five are free. The fees after 5pm today will be $2 more for each age category. For more informatio­n or an entry form visit www.gardencity­countrymus­ic.com.

3. Party Plan Expo at hall

COME along and see numerous party plan and direct selling companies all under the one roof at a Party Plan Expo, to be held at Gowrie Junction Community Hall today from 10am until 2pm.

Entry is free and the first 200 people receive a free show bag.

DETAILS Food and drink will be available, with profits going to local charities. This is an indoor event with plenty of parking beside the hall. Find them on Facebook - Party Plan Expo’s Western Queensland.

4. Head to parks for autumn picnic

AUTUMN is the perfect time of year on the mountain for getting outdoors. Grab a picnic blanket, a bunch of people and head to one of Toowoomba’s beautiful parks and gardens for a picnic.

5. The Long Road charity walk

DON your walking shoes to support the Pyjama Foundation on its Long Road charity walk tomorrow at Middle Ridge Park. The Long Road walk is an 11km loop starting and finishing at the park. The aim of the walk is to raise crucial funds for The Pyjama Foundation, a charity working with children in foster care to help improve their literacy and learning skills.

6. Club hosts guinea pig show

GUINEA pigs are cute, quiet and make a great pet, but did you know they’re put on show in much the same way as dogs, cats and horses?

The Southwest Queensland Cavy Club is starting 2014 with a Pet and Pedigree Cavy Show tomorrow. It will be held at F.E Logan Hall in Clifton and doors open at 9am.

7. Learn to Skate with StreetWise

LEARN to skate with Youth Connect’s StreetWise program today from 10am until noon at Chalk Drive skate park, corner of Chalk Drive and Hume St.

Delivered by Skateboard­ing Australia the clinic is about getting beginners into skateboard­ing and developing the skills of those already riding.

8. Monster trucks take over

MONSTER trucks and jet quad bikes are gearing up to take over the Toowoomba Speedbowl today.

For an evening of thrilling stunts including a car drop from seven stories high and a massive fireworks display head to the speedbowl at the Charlton Raceway, 100 Wirths Rd, Charlton.

The main gates open at 4.30pm with racing from 6pm.

DETAILS Tickets are available at the venue from 4pm. The cost of entry for adults is $30, concession $20, teenagers 13 to 16 $15, children six to 12 $10 and children under five free. There are no Eftpos facilities available at the event. For more informatio­n visit www.toowoombas­peedbowl.com .

9. Community rally over parks

RESIDENTS fighting to save Ballin Drive Park from being turned into a retention basin will rally in the park from 3pm tomorrow.

DETAILS All concerned community members are welcome to join the rally and show their support.

exhibition

ENJOY the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery’s photograph­ic exhibition Interior Exterior.

The exhibition explores the concepts of inside and outdoor environmen­ts and their arbitrary effects on the human condition.

It runs from today until Friday, April 4 during the gallery’s regular opening hours.

DETAILS The gallery is open today from 10am until 4pm and tomorrow from 1pm until 4pm. Entry is free. For more informatio­n phone 131 872.
