Idiot plays chicken

THERE is no cure for stupidity.

Otherwise it could be prescribed for the idiot who played a game of chicken with a train on Friday night.

The Jellicoe St level crossing was the scene of this incredibly dumb act.

About 11 pm a man stopped his car at the level crossing, left the vehicle, lifted the boom gate and stood in the middle of the track waiting for the oncoming train.

Fortunately the Aurizon’s train crew saw the man and applied the emergency brakes.

The train then stopped in time – luckily.

Aurizon executive Neil Backer says the details of the car’s registration have been passed on to Queensland Police.

Hopefully that will allow them to catch up with this fool.

Train crews know that near misses are the stuff of nightmares.

These trains are not easy to stop.

Behaviour like this cannot be tolerated.
