Wippells accepts hospice challenge

-

THE Toowoomba Hospice has thrown out the challenge to local businesses to try some different threads.

Hospice staff have started the Darling Downs free-dress challenge for businesses and organisations on the Downs and Lockyer Valley and Wippells Autos is one business stepping up.

The challenge has been set to time with International and National Palliative Care Week., which runs from May 25 to 31.

Wippells Autos dealer principal Dave Russell said his team would be pulling on some different work outfits during the week.

“I would like encourage other businesses in Toowoomba to have a free-dress day during International and National Palliative Care Week to help raise awareness of palliative care and funds for the Toowoomba Hospice,” he said.

The businesses that raise the most money per participant will win a digital camera, book voucher or iPod.

Hospice fundraising manager Mark Munro said it was a chance for businesses to give back to a local charity.

“We hope this will give the businesses, clubs, organisations and schools a greater understanding of palliative care and what we do here at the hospice whilst raising money,” Mr Munro said.

“We would like to raise at least $6000 from this fundraiser.

“These funds will assist the daily operations of this important community facility providing palliative care for the terminally ill.”
