Power finishes 8th

-

WILL Power managed to lead the Indianapolis 500 for 22 laps but crossed the finish line eighth yesterday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Power led the field before being overhauled, but eighth was still his best finish in the famed race in five years.

The Toowoomba driver was handed a penalty for speeding in pit lane which put paid to his winning hopes, as Ryan Hunter-Reay took the Indy 500 victory and the lead in the drivers’ championship.

Power came under heavy criticism from fellow Aussie Ryan Briscoe after the race as Briscoe claimed Power broke his front wing late in the race which saw him finish 18th.
