Scott wins in play-off
IF ADAM Scott felt the pressure of being the new world No.1, he didn’t show it when making two birdies in three play-off holes to win the Crowne Plaza Invitational at the Colonial course in Texas yesterday.
The Aussie said he realised after a shaky first nine holes on Thursday, when he shot four-over par to put himself in danger of missing the cut, that being the top-ranked player in the world didn’t mean he had to play perfect golf.
Scott produced a brilliant 4.5m putt for birdie on the second play-off hole after Jason Duffner had knocked his approach shot to just over 1m, before repeating the dose from just outside 2m on the 18th to claim the victory.
