Show pride in our city

-

THE Chronicle’s Town Proud campaign has started and we want to know the businesses that make you proud to call Toowoomba home.

As part of Town Proud, a special initiative designed to promote pride in our city and push buying local, we want to know what you think are the top businesses in Toowoomba.

Starting yesterday on Facebook, we are asking you to nominate and vote for your favourite businesses in the region. Go to www.facebook.com/TheToowoombaChronicle.

We will start with retail and wholesale businesses, which will be followed over the next four weeks by: Tourism and Hospitality Manufacturing and Industry Professional and Business Community (self- or government-funded)

New Business Nominations for the first category will be open until midday today.

A list of the top 10 businesses as voted by our Facebook likers will be published in The Chronicle the day after nominations close.

During the campaign, we will also be asking you to nominate your favourite hidden gems of the Toowoomba region.

Town Proud is supported by foundation sponsors Wagners, Wellcamp Airport, USQ, Heritage Bank and Toowoomba Regional Council.

Businesses can register to become a Town Proud participant and will go into a draw to win a marketing package to the value of $10,000.

People who shop at participating local businesses will have the chance to win cash prizes – with a major prize of $10,000 and a runner-up prize of $2000.

Every day a list of the participating businesses will be published in The Chronicle and every week in Toowoomba Life.

The categories used to nominate businesses are based on the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Business Excellence Awards.
