Inquiry probes Clifford Park horse death

DETAILS of the death of a horse at Clifford Park Racecourse will be withheld until an inquiry into the incident is completed.

Toowoomba Turf Club staff and other stakeholde­rs who witnessed or were involved in the April 10 incident have been interviewe­d as a part of the Racing Queensland investigat­ion.

The RSPCA initiated a separate investigat­ion from Racing Queensland, but it has since handed over the case to Biosecurit­y Queensland, which in-turn referred the matter to Racing Queensland.

Racing Queensland CEO Darren Condon said the investigat­ion report had been provided to the Racing Queensland Integrity Regulatory Unit, which was scheduling an inquiry into the matter.

published by Racing Queensland,” Mr Condon said.

“Until such time the inquiry is finalised, it would be inappropri­ate to comment further.”

Standard Racing Queensland practice is for three integrity regulatory unit members to hear an inquiry.

The inquiry on the Clifford Park incident is expected to be held early next month.
