Relentless OLOL girls snare Lions Cup

-

OUR Lady of Lourdes has shown its depth with another dominant performance in the girls’ primary Brisbane Lions Cup.

The school went unbeaten to be declared 2014 champions despite losing one of its star players to injury.

Mykaila McIntosh – who was MVP at last year’s carnival – was in brilliant form to start the carnival before landing awkwardly on her ankle.

She was taken to hospital for pre-cautionary scans and later cleared of serious injury but it was enough to keep her from playing in OLOL’s final games.

It didn’t stop their charge though as OLOL claimed two wins over Concordia and a win and a draw against Our Lady of the Southern Cross College.

Concordia finished in second place with one win and one draw while OLOSCC was third after a couple of goal-less 1-1 and 2-2 draws.

Rising star and term one Dalby Swans Cup MVP Shiro Frid (10 votes) added to her growing collection of individual accolades, taking out the girls division Most Valuable Player award ahead of Georgia Bollon and Andy Hooper by one vote.

OLOL will now represent the Darling Downs at the AFLQ SEQ Brisbane Lions Cup finals in Brisbane in June.
