Bears prepare for grand final battles

- RUGBY UNION TRY TIME: Goondiwindi's Jakeb Rice scores a try against USQ in Downs Rugby under 15s action.

TOOWOOMBA Bears will chase a triple dose of premiership success this Sunday at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

Bears will contest three of the four Downs Rugby Teenage Rugby grand finals this season.

They will take on South Toowoomba in the under-13s and under-16s, while Bears also take on Goondiwindi in the under 14s.

The Emus then face USQ in the under-15 decider.

In the under-13s, unbeaten South Toowoomba will be out to maintain its undefeated record when it faces Bears.

The two teams have played out a draw this season while Souths posted a 12-point win in the other game.

Bears have an unbeaten record in the under-14s but Goondiwindi cannot be discounted as the Emus went down by just two points the last time the teams met.

Goondiwindi will again go in as the underdog in the under-15 decider when they take on minor premiers USQ but they have posted a win over the Saints this season.

The teams have met three times already this season for two wins to USQ and one to Goondiwindi.

And in the last grand final of the day, South Toowoomba has another undefeated team going into a decider in the under 16s.

But history has shown anything can happen in grand finals so Souths will need to be on their toes to get over Bears.
