Customer service a key focus
LUMINOSA owner Ellie Burgoyne knows the beauty of providing good customer service.
Her salon, which specialises in spray tanning, eyebrow sculpting, special occasion make-up and products, was nominated by Facebook voters as Toowoomba’s number one retailer as part of The Chronicle’s Town Proud campaign.
“Customer service is most important to me. You don’t always get personalised service in the bigger cities.
“To me, it’s about caring for the individual - not making the sale.”
She said she aimed to provide a unique service and products within the city.
The concept of Town Proud had great appeal for the beauty guru who said there were many great businesses in the city that went unnoticed.
Her observation was supported by the Facebook comments responding to the Town Proud’s top 10 shortlist released on Tuesday.
Many readers said they had never heard of some of the retailers.
The Town Proud campaign aims to recognise some of those businesses, with its focus on thinking, buying and supporting local.
The initiative is taking off with more and more businesses getting on board and stringing up the black and white Town Proud banners.
Over the next four weeks, residents will be invited to shop locally at participating businesses to receive an entry form.
Shoppers can win a $10,000 prize plus a $2000 runner-up prize.
Entries close on June 27 and the winner will be drawn on July 1.
Participating businesses that buy a merchandise pack will also go into the draw to win a $10,000 advertising package from The Chronicle and Southern Cross Austereo.
Wagners, Wellcamp Airport, the University of Southern Queensland, Heritage Bank and Toowoomba Regional Council are backing Town Proud as major sponsors.
