Offer to ‘early birds’

-

EARLY bird entrants into Somerset Regional Council’s annual fun run could be soaring to new heights with a unique prize up for grabs.

Entrants who register to compete in the 12th annual Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run before Monday, July 7, will go into the draw to win a tandem skydive donated by Ramblers Parachute Centre.

Somerset mayor Graeme Lehmann said the prize was an extra incentive to get in early and beat the rush.

“Traditionally people leave registering to the last minute or even event day but now we’re able to offer competitors an exciting incentive to register early,” Cr Lehmann said.

“A big thank you must go to all sponsors of this year’s event including our major sponsor, Honeywood Fernvale, who have again come on board and supported this great event.

“The great news is the Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run is not just for runners. People can walk the course, push a pram or bring the whole family along and just enjoy a day out.”

Council is also offering two $50 cash prizes to entrants with the best costumes.

The Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run will be held on Sunday, July 13, starting at 9am.

This year the run will start at Fernvale and finish in Lowood with plenty of community stalls and fun attractions for everyone to enjoy at the end of the event.
