The plot to Godzilla is simple: malevolent gigantic monsters have had a uranium snack they found in the coast of Japan and are now ultra urged to reproduce.

Are they aliens, are they dinosaurs? The movie does not stop for an evolutionary class, especially when the monsters are heading to the US.

From the deep ocean, then, Godzilla resurfaces.

Standing at 355ft tall, this film features the largest Godzilla in the entire franchise.

Will she be able to save us from the malevolent monsters?

Not on her own. Producers have cast a number of actors to boost Godzilla’s chances to win and, at the same time, bring some well-known faces to the classic.

First is Aaron Taylor-Johnson, whom teenage audiences would recognise from Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2. Taylor-Johnson has done a lot of growing up.

He’s now a soldier, specialised in – of course – atomic weapon management.

His father is played by Bryan Cranston, who is well known for his roles in TV series Malcolm in the Middle and Breaking Bad.

Father and son will hold the key to understanding what is happening.
