NEW SOUTH WALES: HOW THEY RATED

-

Jarryd Hayne:

Brilliant game. He did everything. Ran, kicked and passed to near-perfection, while also showing great strength to wriggle over for a try. Then crucially foiled a dangerous Johnathan Thurston grubber with two minutes left.

9½ Brett Morris:

Great finish for NSW first try. Popped shoulder in process. Then a try-saver on Boyd with six mins left. Great courage and terrific defence.

Beautiful link up with Hayne to set up his brother Brett for first NSW try.

Down on his usual game-breaking display.

After some early jitters under the high ball, recovered to take some threatening Daly Cherry-Evans

bombs.

6 Josh Reynolds:

Involved in everything and always there in support. Made 50m in first half with his high energy, and always threatened to poke through a hole.

7½ Trent Hodkinson:

Justified his controversial selection with a solid display and some neat kicks.

8 Aaron Woods:

Very good ball playing and running near line. Much more involvement and all-round confidence than last year. Good hit up in lead up to NSW first try.

8½ Robbie Farah:

Scheming and creative as always.

Strong in attack all night.

Solid as usual in a Blues jumper.

Missed tackle led

to an early Chris McQueen break. His only blemish. Pulled off some great try-savers, including the match-saver on Billy Slater on the final play.

Tireless captain’s knock once again.

Offered some handy impact off the bench and continues to grow in this arena.

6½ Anthony Watmough:

High impact off the bench with plenty of hit-ups.

Not as involved as previous Origins but it didn’t matter because fellow back-rowers Gallen and Scott were outstanding.

Some big runs attracted multiple defenders.
