QUEENSLAND: HOW THEY RATED

-

Billy Slater:

One of Queensland’s best all night. At the forefront of most sweeping backline plays and safe under the high ball.

Who said this man had poor club form? Answered the call at Origin level once again with a double courtesy of some great finishing.

8 Darius Boyd:

8 Greg Inglis:

Quieter than his usual self at fullback at club level. Halfback Cooper Cronk’s injury affected his involvement.

6 Justin Hodges:

Not a lot of attack from him in first half, but brushed off his Achilles to set up some threatening raids late in the game.

Great involvement in first try, coming from right side to left side to set up

Brent Tate:

Thursday, May 29, 2014 Boyd’s try. Handled some bombs for Daniel Tupou well and was tough as nails as usual.

6½ Johnathan Thurston:

Quieter than usual as the Blues targeted him in defence, and missed key tackles in lead-up to first two tries to Blues. Didn’t run the ball once in the first half.

5½ Cooper Cronk:

Left game early with broken arm and Queensland struggled without him.

Some heavy duty work in the middle as always.

Matt Scott: 6½ Cameron Smith:

20 first-half tackles. Another whole-hearted effort.

7 Nate Myles:

Hit like a sledgehammer in defence and tireless with the ball.

Made a bust

Chris McQueen:

early but not much involvement after that.

5 Matt Gillett:

Threatened near the line on numerous occasions.

6½ Corey Parker:

Quieter than usual with the Blues dominating possession.

6 Daly Cherry-Evans:

Didn’t do anything wrong after coming on for Cronk, but took some time to settle in.

Some brilliant runs with the ball.

Ben Te’o:

6½ Aidan Guerra:

Ran great angles. Will be a very good player for Queensland in years to come.

7 Josh Papalii:

Quiet in first half, before producing some solid hits including a bone rattler on Blues captain Paul Gallen.
